Botswana game is a must win – Yeye
Monday, June 04, 2012

Midfield maestro, Reneilwe ‘Yeye’ Letsholonyane has insisted that the upcoming game is a ‘must win’ for Bafana Bafana if they harbour ambitions to go to Brazil for the 2014 Fifa World Cup.

Bafana Bafana played to a disappointing 1 all draw against lowly rated Ethiopia in Pokeng, Rustenburg on Sunday afternoon. Katlego Mpela scored a crucial equaliser late in the second half saving South Africa from what was going to be a shocking defeat.

Letsholonyane back in the national team following his injury back in January was replaced at halftime; “We are all disappointed to have drawn the game. It feels like a loss,” said Yeye speaking to kaizerchiefs.com immediately after the game.

“It was important for us to win the game as we were playing at home. We need to be more ruthless at home because it is always tougher when you play away.

Bafana Bafana travel to Botswana this weekend for another tricky tie; “It is going to be a tough game against a team that is on a high after qualifying for African Cup of Nations earlier this year. They will be playing at home so it will not be an easy game.

“It is a massive game for us. It is a game that we must win to get back to the winning habit. We need to forget about the Sunday result and start focusing on Botswana our next assignment.

The Jabavu born midfielder also took time together with his Club teammate, Itumeleng Khune to watch Banyana Banyana taking on Nigeria. The game ended 1 all.

“I have always supported Banyana Banyana and I think they were unlucky not to settle the game during the first half where they created lot of chances. It was nice to see Portia Modise scoring. I know her very well and used to play with her in the township. I was also impressed by captain, Amanda Dlamini including the ever reliable Kylie-Ann Louw.

Nigeria was always going to be tuff but the ladies showed that they are not pushovers and should be ready for the Olympics. I wish them all the best,” added Letsholonyane.
