Black Label Starting line-up revealed

Carling Black Label on Thursday evening finally revealed the starting line up to take the field when the Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates meet in what promises to be a thrill-a-minute clash at Soccer City Complex on Saturday, 28 July 2012.

Corporate Communications Manager, Vina Maphosa joined his counterpart at Orlando Pirates, Mickey Modisane, the supporters from both teams, members of the media, Carling Cup representatives, Carling Cup ambassadors, Popeye and Spinach including Lucas Radebe, Champion Coach, Qinile Wilson Mbatha and his counterpart were all at Soccer City Complex for the team reveal.

Things got interesting when Isaac ‘Shakes’ Kungwane and his counterpart at Orlando Pirates, Edward ‘Magents’ Motale had a heated debate on the stage and were followed by the two Champion Coaches who also debated on their sides’ prospects come Saturday.

Carling Black Label Marketing Manager, Vijay Govindsamy confirmed the Kaizer Chiefs line up as follows:

Captain and no. 1 goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune who started in the previous year kept his place in goals; Siboniso Gaxa, a new signing will occupy the rightback back position, while Jimmy ‘Boeing 747’ Jambo who also started last year also managed to keep his place in the starting line-up. Morgan Gould who signed for the Club after weeks of voting muscled his way to the starting line-up and will partner towering defender, Tefo Mashamaite in the centre back.

In the middle of the park industrious midfielder, Reneilwe ‘Xavi’ Letsholonyane and Abia ‘Soul Provider’ Nale kept their places while Josta Dladla and George Lebese who get to start this year after coming on as a substitute in the previous year will occupy the wings. Bernard Parker who was voted by the fans as the first substitute last year gets to start alongside Lehlohonolo ‘Wagga-Wagga’ Majoro.

Maphosa commented speaking to kaizerchiefs.com after the proceedings; “We are pleased with the line-up and I am sure I speak for the Kaizer Chiefs faithful who gave the team the loudest cheer at the venue following the announcement.”

“We are expecting hundreds of fans to come through to the Kaizer Chiefs Village tomorrow as it is a norm before the Soweto derby. Fans from all corners of the country called to confirm that they were on their way and they are all excited with the line-up,” added Maphosa.

Kickoff is at 19:30.
