THE CHAIRMAN'S VIEWPOINT

I cannot fashion many words to describe how best the 2012/13 was, except to once more appreciate divine favour that simply fell on us.

A BUSY SCHEDULE AHEAD

Despite the outcomes, our participation in the MACUFE Cup has clearly reflected on the status of our team this early in the season to help us prepare the way forward. With twelve of our regular players being absent because of national assignments, the Technical Team still had an abundance of options to use. The remaining lads confirmed our depth and could have snatched a winner in full time before succumbing to a penalty shootout when considering that Celtic were in full strength.

We were happy to use the experience to sharpen our squad before our league encounter with Platinum Stars. Our visitors will surely want to put a great performance to break the two-weeks of inactivity whilst we are also keen to maximize our chances of amassing all three points in this important league encounter.

Before the much publicized draw against Amazulu in the Telkom Knockout first leg, our midweek schedule presents Moroka Swallows in its SOWETO Dobsonville Stadium backyard. These assignments are clearly tough for us the defending champions whose other focus is to lift the illusive Premiership trophy. Be that as it may, we are happy to proceed throughout this arduous journey with a fighting spirit.

OUR OPEN MEDIA DAY

The unfortunate turn of events during our open media day is indeed regrettable. Whereas it is cause for concern when we are misrepresented in the media, we are still obligated to maintaining a professional relationship; something to which I would like to commit. May I again reiterate our humblest apologies but also urge our media professionals to embrace the ethical media standards of integrity when they cover any stories.

We have in the meantime engaged with the Head Coach to find a solution.

Talking about media, it was interesting to be afforded an opportunity to engage with our supporters through one of the most preferred radio house. Getting all sorts of concerns and praises for the Kaizer Chiefs brand has opened another opportunity to align our operational systems to meet the needs of our loyal supporters. I am thankful for all the calls I received and hope that we continue to exploit all means of accounting to our supporters.

BAFANA BAFANA

Our national team deserves to be praised for overcoming all challenges during their Africa Cup of Nations excursion in Sierra Leone. Their travel schedule indicated a tedious sojourn of stoppages and transfers to different mode of transport; all factors that could have impacted on the outcome.

They however managed all challenges and went on to salvage a crucial point in the build-up stages of the lucrative African spectacle. I hope we stay in pole position until we qualify so that we may not be dismissed as mediocre or simply lacking in desire to conquer the African continent.

Executive Chairman
