South African national team coach Stuart Baxter has decided to start with Itumeleng Khune in goal for tonight’s World Cup qualifier against Senegal.

Bafana Bafana and Senegal face each other tonight in a crucial qualifier for next year’s World Cup in Russia at Polokwane’s Peter Mokaba Stadium. Kick-off is at 19:00.

The Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper had to leave the pitch on a stretcher in last weekend’s Telkom Knockout quarterfinal clash against Chippa United, suffering a fracture in a bone just under his eye.

Khune, however, has been cleared by the South African national team’s medical staff to play. He will most likely use a mask to protect his face.

Erick Mathoho and Siphiwe Tshabalala will both start from the bench.

South Africa’s starting line-up: Khune, Daniels, Gould, Mkhize, Hlanti, Furman, Mokotjo, Manyama, Zwane, Vilakazi, Tau.

Substitutes: Sandilands, Williams, Madisha, Langerman, Mathoho, Tshabalala, Mahlambi, Mabunda, Dolly, Grobler.
