One more chance to sit on the KC Couch

The KC Couch has become a phenomenon at Kaizer Chiefs’ home matches at Moses Mabhida Stadium. There is still one home game to go in eThekwini, against Ajax Cape Town on 16 December. To stand a chance to sit on the couch, supporters are urged to send the word ‘KCCouch’ to 45905.

The couch, otherwise called The Best seat in the House, is positioned on the eastern side of the pitch. Three sisters recently sat on the KC Couch for the home fixture against Free State Stars; Khethiwe, Buselaphi and Futhy Gxubani.

Khethiwe bought the Isolezwe on the Wednesday before the match and found an 8-page Kaizer Chiefs special with a KC Couch advertisement inside. “I immediately send a SMS to the mentioned number,” she says, “I couldn’t believe it when I got a call to say that I had won the KC Couch competition.”

The 8-page insert also appeared in the Daily News on the same day and there will be another pullout supplement in both newspapers before the Ajax Cape Town game.

The Gxubani-sisters are all three die-hard Amakhosi supporters. “We are four kids at home, as we also have a brother,” Khethiwe says. “We all support Kaizer Chiefs, including our mother.”

The winner of the KC Couch competition can invite two friends and furthermore get VIP treatment by Chiefs. “I didn’t need to think long,” Khethiwe adds, “I immediately decided to ask my sisters to join me.”

They arrived early for the game and were brought to a Chiefs suite. Just before kick-off, they were taken to The Best seat in the House. They were joined on the coach by Ramahlwe ‘Rama’ Mphahlele, who is close to being fully fit again.

The right-back continuously spoke with the sisters, explaining to them the finer details of soccer at the highest level.

There were load cheers on the couch when Amakhosi opened the score in the second half, thanks to Bernard Parker. Mphahlele also loudly applauded the striker’s goal, his 50th in the colours of Kaizer Chiefs.

However, soon thereafter, Free State Stars equalised, which turned out to be final score of this Absa Premiership match. The three sisters were obviously disappointed with the result, but when asked whether watching the encounter from the KC Couch was enjoyable, they answered together: “TOO MUCH!”

So please don’t miss out on the last chance this season to sit on the KC Couch with a Glamour Boy and watch the Ajax Cape Town clash at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 16 December (kick-off is at 20:15). Please SMS ‘KC Couch’ to 45905 (at R1.50 per SMS). The competition closes on 15 December 2017.
