Kaizer Chiefs are proud to announce the one-year loan signing of Khanyisa Mayo, who returns to South Africa after a season with CR Belouizdad in Algeria.
The 27-year-old forward, son of Kaizer Chiefs legend Patrick Mayo, joins an exclusive group of players whose fathers once wore the famous Gold & Black jersey. This distinguished list includes Chairman Dr. Kaizer Motaung and Kaizer Motaung Jr.; Eliakim Khumalo and Doctor Khumalo; Joseph Mkhonza and Siphiwe Mkhonza; Fabian McCarthy and Aden McCarthy; as well as the father and son duo of Ace Nkomo and Morgan Gould.
Mayo has represented South Africa at U17 and U20 junior national levels and has earned seven caps for the senior national team, Bafana Bafana.
“It’s no secret that we wanted to bring Khanyisa to Naturena before his move to Algeria,” said Kaizer Motaung Jr. “He has a proven track record in the league, and we believe he will add significant value to the squad this season when we play in the league, as well as on the continent. He joins an select group of athletes who’ve made their families proud by following in their footsteps. We are truly happy to have him here and wish him all the best.”
The striker, who hails from the Eastern Cape, is Chiefs’ 11th signing this season, and is expected to link up with his new teammates early next week at the Club’s headquarters in Naturena.
