The best Kaizer Chiefs is coming – Solinas

Giovanni Solinas was visibly unhappy after his side was kicked out of the MTN8 due to losing 3-2 to SuperSport United on aggregate. “I am disappointed,” the Amakhosi coach admitted, “because the whole Kaizer Chiefs Family wanted this final. But we have to move on. We haven’t seen the best of Kaizer Chiefs as yet, the best is still coming.”

Chiefs were edged 1-0 by SuperSport United last night in the second leg of the MTN8 semi-final at FNB Stadium after having booked a 2-2 draw away last week.

“We didn’t play well in the first half,” Solinas said, “but we did much better in the second half, creating chances. It was disappointing to see SuperSport United score the goal.”

The coach was right. It wasn’t a good overall game from both sides, but Chiefs definitely got more opportunities to score than the visitors.

“We lost an opportunity to win a trophy,” Solinas pointed out, “and I understand that our supporters are not happy with the result. The same is true for me.”

The Chiefs coach also mentioned that “I am here now for only one and a half month. I don’t have a magic wand. There is, however, a lot of room for improvement and the FIFA international break will give us some time to work at training on certain aspects of our game.

“I believe in this team and I fully believe that, with time, we will get it right.” Then, Solinas repeated his earlier words, “I am optimistic about the future. The best of Kaizer Chiefs is coming.”
