Coach Ernst Middendorp has made several changes to the starting line-up for this evening’s Absa premiership fixture against Stellenbosch FC compared to Wednesday’s encounter against Bloemfontein Celtic.

Reeve Frosler, Siyabonga Ngezana, Yagan Sasman, Siphelele Ntshangase and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya are part of the starting XI.

Lebogang Manyama, Erick Mathoho and Samir Nurković are all one yellow card away from a one-match suspension. As a result, Manyama, who is slightly injured and Mathoho are not in the matchday squad, although the Serbian is on the bench to be able to come on if needed. Amakhosi will face Mamelodi Sundowns in a crucial title-race encounter on Thursday, 27 August.

It means that Daniel Akpeyi will continue to be the number one choice in goal, with Frosler (right-back), Ngezana, Daniel Cardoso and Sasman forming the backline in front of the Nigerian international.

Captain Willard Katsande will be partnered in central midfield by Ntshangase, with Bernard Parker and Ntiya-Ntiya manning the flanks.

Khama Billiat and Leonardo Castro will lead the attack against Stellies.

Chiefs were edged 3-1 by Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday, despite Mathoho having put the Phefeni Boys in front in the 35th minute.

Amakhosi, however, are still on top of the league table with 52 points, five points ahead of nearest challenger Mamelodi Sundowns. Both sides have played 25 matches.

Stellies occupy ninth spot with 33 points from 26 games. They have collected maximum points from their two outings since the restart of the league, beating both Golden Arrows and Cape Town City 1-0.

The goals were scored by Ashley du Preez (against Arrows) and Leletu Skelem.

Chiefs beat the Stellenbosch-based side 4-0 in Cape Town in November 2019, with Ngezana, Nurković (a brace) and Dumsani Zuma finding the back of the net.

The referee tonight will be Jelly Chavani. His assistants are Khamusi Razwimisani and Kgara Mokoena. Siyabulela Qunta will be the fourth official.

Kaizer Chiefs will host Stellenbosch FC at Orlando Stadium this Sunday evening (kick-off is at 18:00). No spectators will be allowed in the stadium. The game will be broadcast live on the DStv channel SuperSport 4 and various SABC radio stations.
