Yusuf Bunting has been promoted to Kaizer Chiefs’ first team on a four year deal, having signed a contract until 30 June 2021.

The 21-year-old forward has done tremendously well in recent years for Amakhosi’s reserve side, playing in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge.

He was recently crowned as the Best Player and Top Goalscorer at the SAB Under-21 National Championship. Bunting helped his side Gauteng beat USSA (Universities Sports South Africa) in the final. The striker netted 12 goals in five games, including two hat-tricks.

Meanwhile, as Football Manager Bobby Motaung recently promised, the search is still on for a good and experienced striker to join Chiefs’ first team. As a result, two Cameroonian forwards are presently training with Steve Komphela’s side.

The two are Christ Mbondi and Julien Jérôme Ebah Tobie. The first is 25-years-old and played in Europe for Sion in Switzerland. He most recently played for premier division side, Deportivo Capiatá in Paraguay.

Tobie, meanwhile, is 26-years-old has gained a few caps for the Cameroonian national team, scoring once. He last played for Kapaz, a club in the Azerbaijan premier league.

“We continue to assess strikers,” Motaung comments, “we won’t just sign anybody. We need to be satisfied that we have found the right one.”
