Kaizer Chiefs are through to the first round of the CAF Champions League after winning their two-legged home and away encounter in the preliminary round against PWD Bamenda of Cameroon.

The two teams clashed last week in Limbe, Cameroon where Kaizer Chiefs won the away match 0-1. The second leg was hosted at FNB Stadium on Saturday night and the final score was 0-0. Amakhosi advance with an aggregate score of 1-0 over the Abakwa boys.

After initially being scheduled to play on Friday at 6pm, the second leg was postponed a number of times due to the late arrival of the Cameroonians in South Africa. The game did finally kick off at 8pm on Saturday night.

The game was very entertaining as both teams knew the importance of winning the match as they needed to get to the next round of the competition.

Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt had made four changes to the line-up when compared with last Sunday’s clash in Cameroon.

Amakhosi came close to scoring a few times but Bamenda’s goalkeeper, Haschou Haschou was alert and stopped all the dangerous balls.

Kaizer Chiefs’ defence was fantastic as they managed to deal with the Abakwa Boys’ attacks. First round’s goal scored Mulomowandau Mathoho was great again in defence with Daniel Cardoso to stop Bamenda.

Both teams made changes in the second half to try and get a goal but no goal was scored in this entertaining game.

The Glamour Boys celebrated at the end of the match after winning the two-legged affair.

Amakhosi will welcome Angolan side Primero de Agosto in the first round of the CAF Champions League on 22 December at FNB Stadium. The return leg will be in Angola on 6 January.
