Amakhosi’s pre-season continued with a one-all drawn match against Botswana’s Township Rollers on Saturday afternoon. The match was played in front of a sizeable and passionate crowd at the Francistown Sport Complex in Francistown, Botswana.

As often happens with pre-season matches, the game started at an exhibition pace with some exciting play from both sides. Rollers took the initiative and started to invade Itumeleng Khune’s area.

Amakhosi, however, didn’t want to be dominated and fought back. Good play by Hendrick Ekstein created chances for Gustavo Páez and Bernard Parker, only for the Rollers defence to stand firm.

But just when the Glamour Boys were piling up the pressure, Rollers, against the run of play, scored via Segolame Boy in the 32nd minute, 1-0.

That was also the half-time score.

Sensing a possible surprise defeat, coach Steve Komphela made a change, bringing on Bongolethu Jayiya for Ekstein.

Amakhosi upped the tempo in the second half with some neat passing, while Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Tsepo Masilela caused havoc with their runs on the flanks.

Willard Katsande nearly headed in the equaliser in the 55th minute, but it wasn’t to be, as the ball hit the crossbar.

Accordingly, coach Komphela brought on the young defender Siyabonga Ngezana for Teenage Hadebe in the 75th minute.

The equaliser finally arrived in the 86th when good combination play in the middle of the park resulted in the ball getting to Páez, who set-up George Lebese to neatly finish.

Amakhosi pushed hard for the winner in the last few minutes of the match, but Rollers resisted all attempts.
