Kaizer Chiefs will kick off their 2018/19 Telkom Knockout quest against Black Leopards during the weekend of 20-21 October 2018. The launch and draw, attended by coach Giovanni Solinas, took place on Monday night at SuperSport’s studios in Randburg.

The format of the draw had all the top eight finishers from last season seeded and this meant they avoided each other in the first round.

After drawing Lidoda Duvha, the Amakhosi coach acknowledged that the PSL is balanced and there is no easy game for any team. “We will try our best to do well and win the trophy. We have to do it for the fans to quench the long trophy thirst at Naturena. I’m positive we will do well.”

Kaizer Chiefs are the most successful team in Telkom Knockout, having won it a record 13 times and having won the competition for the first time in 1983. The last win came in the 2010/11 season. The team reached the finals of this competition in 2015/16, before coming short against Mamelodi Sundowns.

“We will prepare very well for Black Leopards and will not take them lightly at all,” the Italian concluded.

The tournament will kick off on the weekend of October 20-21. Venues and kick-off times of all the last 16 matches will be announced in due course.
