Chiefs move out of Jo’burg Stadium

Kaizer Chiefs will no longer play their home matches at the Johannesburg Stadium and will now move most of the games to Ellis Park.

The lease contract with Johannesburg Stadium has expired and Amakhosi wanted to buy but the Johannesburg Stadium management was not prepared to sell.

Chiefs also needed a bigger venue and Ellis Park provided all the answers as it also has great facilities like the big television screen which can be used to show the match as it progresses.

As an alternative venue, Amakhosi will use the Bafokeng Sport Palace in Rustenburg, but this will only be for a few matches.

Chiefs will be up against Ria Stars in the quarterfinals of the BP Top Eight on August 11 and the match will be played at Bafokeng Sports Palace. The match kicks off at 15:00.

Our first league home match will be against Classic at Ellis Park and kick-off is at 20:00. There will be great entertainment and halftime giveaways.

Meanwhile, negotiations are at an advanced stage for the signing of two prolific strikers and an announcement will be made once the players have put pen to paper.
