Kaizer Chiefs had to wait for late substitute Lucky Maselesele to come off the bench and score their winning goal against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

Maselesele, who came on late in the game replacing Josias

Macamo, easily pushed home a loose ball which resulted from a goalkeeping error by Orlando Pirtaes goalkeeper William Okpara in the 88th minute.

AmaKhosi, who lost 1-0 to Pirates in the semi-final of last

year's Telkom Charity Cup at the same FNB Stadium, will meet Black Leopards in the final.

Chiefs and Pirates, who are perennial arch-rivals, played a

promising game throughout their goalless first half.

Chiefs, who were under constant pressure for the first 30

minutes of the first stanza, finaly broke away from Pirates'

mounting attack.

The introduction of Washington Ngomashe in the middle of the park changed the complexion of Chiefs game altogether as they started taking the game to Pirates.

Pirates, who were solid in their midfield, lacked the much

needed firepower in the front where Stanley Sibeko played poorly and was later replaced by Sibusiso Mazibuke.

Chiefs mounted their attack and forced Pirates to backpedal.

An interchange of passes between Stanton Fredericks and Kenny Niemach towards Pirates backyard brought the capacity stadium to raptures, but Fredericks' last touch let him down.

Jabu Pule, who had a quiet game, came close to breaking the ice but his 25m scorcher sailed over the top in the 80th minute.

Realising that Macamo had done enough to tire Pirates defenders, Chiefs introduced Maselesele, who lived up to the coach's expectation by netting the only goal in the 88th minute.

Pirates equalised a minute later through Benedict Vilakazi but

his goal was disallowed as the pint-sized Bafana Bafana player was adjudged to have been off-side.

Disgruntled Pirates supporters pelted assistant referee Happy Radebe with an assortment of missiles, but order was restored by members of the SA Police Services.
