Kaizer Chiefs are going ahead with legal proceedings against Ria Stars in an effort to regain monies owed to Amakhosi by the Northern Province outfit.

Chiefs financial manager Jason Raine says the amount totaling R356 000, emanates from the sale players to the Stars.

Previous attempts to retrieve the money proved fruitless and frustrating according to Raine. A postdated cheque for the payment of Tony Illodigwe bounced on two occasions.

"They kept on promising that they would make a plan but nothing has materialised," said Raine. "Stars have been very unprofessional in dealing with this issue and we are very disappointed."

Illodigwe was sold to Stars at the beginning of the season but the Petersburg-based outfit has not made the transaction yet but they have continued to use the player in their league matches.

According to Raine, it was not the first time that Amakhosi encountered problems with Stars regarding payments for players sold to them. "We had a similar problem when we sold Thabang to them," he said. "They gave us a cheque which bounced twice but subsequently they finally settled the account."

"We have been very patient in dealing with them but we cannot run our business like that. It is very sad that we have to institute legal proceedings to retrieve our money," said a disappointed and very sad looking Raine.
