The Kaizer Chiefs Under-19 side grabbed a crucial 4-3 victory over Myeni FC keeping the spectators at the Ennerdale Stadium on their toes in this SAB Johannesburg Regional League clash.

The contributions to Amakhosi’s goal tally were Lebohang Lesako’s double and a Sibusiso Milazi goal to continue his form in front of goal after having netted four in his previous appearance. A Reamohetswe Lekoatsa strike in the 86th minute won the game for the young Glamour Boys.

The wet conditions at Ennerdale Stadium made it difficult for Chiefs to play their usual slick passing and moving game though the elements did not prevent the boys from putting four in the back of the net.

“It was a very tough game,” reflects Under-19 coach Sundra Govinder, before adding, “as tough as it was, the score was not a true reflection of the game. We had five or six clear cut chances where we could have sealed the game early.

“Kefiloe Mojaki, our central defender and captain, had a very good game, while the youngster Sibusiso Milazi had an outstanding game, as did Lekoatsa and Lesako,” added the coach.

Despite conceding three, Govinder was happy with his team’s performance. “Taking into consideration that it was raining very hard, two of the three goals we conceded were due to the elements – it was raining, and it was quite windy so the goalkeeper misjudged the flight of the ball for one of the goals. Another we conceded due to lapse of concentration,” analysed the Chiefs coach.

A change had to be made in the goalkeeping department as Sanele Tshabalala suffered a concussion and had to be replaced by Phetolo Maphothoma early in the second half.

The win kept Amakhosi in second position on the log having amassed 18 points from 8 games. They are now behind the University of Johannesburg who have 22 points while having played a game more.

Next up for Chiefs is a top of the table clash against the University of Johannesburg in Auckland Park on Friday, 14 December. The team will close out the year on Monday, 17 December when they host Panorama FC at Chiefs Village.
