If Kaizer Chiefs Reserves win, they win big. About a month ago they beat Chippa United Reserves 10-0, while putting six past Maritzburg United Reserves on Saturday, winning 6-0 in a MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) fixture.

Chiefs went into this game after having suffered two back-to-back losses, but they were back to their most lethal at the Dobsonville Stadium.

Sizwe Twala was the chief destroyer, scoring a whopping four goals (9’, 16’, 78’ and 82’).

Captain Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Given Thibedi, who marshalled the centre of the park, completed the demolition job with a goal apiece, coming respectively in the 58th and 63rd minute.

“Maritzburg brought mostly their first team players to this game,” said coach Arthur Zwane after the game. “The difference compared to the games we recently lost was that we took our chances this time. That’s basically the story in all our games. If we could convert half of our goalscoring opportunities, we would win huge every week.”

“Twala is excellent,” commented the Chiefs Reserve side coach about the four-goal hero of the day. “He scores with composure and sublime skill. It is good for him and his confidence. Overall, we played well on the day and I’m happy with the result.”

Amakhosi are presently in ninth spot on the MDC log having booked 12 points from nine matches.

Chiefs’ line-up: Petersen (GK), Blom, Moleko, Rorwana, Ngcobo, Radebe, Mirwa (Mokoena 52’), Moodley, Thibedi, Twala, Shopane

Subs not used: Tshabalala (GK), Lesako, Lekoatsa, Mbatha
