Katsande under observation

“Katsande has fractured a bone in his face,” first team physiotherapist Dave Milner reports. “He was taken to hospital for a surgery.”

Willard Katsande suffered a knock during the last few minutes of the Nedbank Cup Last 32 game against Golden Arrows. With the maximum of three substitutions already being used, Kaizer Chiefs had to play the last two minutes of the match with ten players.

“Katsande will be under observation this week,” said Milner. “We will see how he responds to treatment during the week and take it from there.”

George Maluleka, Gustavo Páez and Dumsani Zuma did not take part in the Nedbank Cup due to an assortment of injuries.

“We hope to have Maluleka and Páez in full training this week,” Milner commented. “Maluleka has a calf strain and Páez has a hamstring problem.” They are both expected to be ready for the next game.

“Dumsani Zuma is recovering well from a groin strain,” continued Milner. “He will be out for this weekend’s match against Cape Town City.”

Chiefs will be hosting Cape Town City at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 17 February (kick-off is at 20:15).
