Khama Billiat was stretchered off with a knock to his right leg in the second half of Kaizer Chiefs’ triumphant Nedbank Cup quarterfinal match against Cape Town City on Sunday.

“It concerns the calf area,” says physiotherapist Dave Milner about the Zimbabwean’s injury. “The pain is subsiding, but we are watching him closely. He will undergo a late fitness test on Friday.”

There’s a similar concern for Leonardo Castro.

“Castro is also under scrutiny,” Milner explains. “He picked up a comparable knock. He’s being monitored, and a decision will be made on his readiness to play this weekend.”

Happy Mashiane remains sidelined, although he’s recovering well from a toe injury.

Mulomowandau Mathoho and Lebogang Manyama, meanwhile, have resumed training after having recovered from an assortment of injuries.

Itumeleng Khune is recuperating well too.

“Itu saw the doctors on Tuesday,” Milner commented on the goalkeeper’s recovery from a shoulder operation. “They are happy with his progress.”

The Chiefs skipper will be out for the rest of the season though.
