The past weekend was a mixed bag of results for Kaizer Chiefs players doing duty for their respective national teams in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, which will be played in Cameroon. Two draws, a win and a loss characterized Chiefs’ representation during this weekend’s round of fixtures.

Starting on Saturday at FNB Stadium, South Africa, goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune was beaten by Buhle Mkhawanazi’s own goal as Bafana Bafana played to a one-all drawn match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria. Ramahlwe Mphahlele did not make Stuart Baxter’s match day squad.

Bafana Bafana and Libya will contest for 2nd spot in their final match of Group E in March.

Godfrey Walusimbi and Uganda have qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Cape Verde 1-0 in Saturday's Group L qualifier in Kira at the Nelson Mandela Stadium.

Group K’s match that took place at Sam Nujoma Stadium saw goalminder Virgil Vries keep a clean sheet as Namibia played goalless against Guinea-Bissau. The two are locked on 8 points apiece and the group will be decided in their final match.

Willard Katsande’s return from international retirement was blemished by Liberia beating Zimbabwe 1-0 in Sunday's AFCON qualifier in Monrovia. Teenage Hadebe and Khama Billiat who got substituted also played. Despite the loss, Zimbabwe remain atop Group G with eight points, leaving it to the final round of matches to decide their ticket to Cameroon.

It is all to play for in the final round of 2019 AFCON qualifiers for Bafana Bafana, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
