“Joseph Molangoane will undergo surgery to repair his lower right leg,” reports Dr Aadil Bodhania of Kaizer Chiefs’ Medical Department.

Molangoane sustained a horrific injury during Amakhosi’s MTN8 quarter-final win over Free State Stars on Saturday night.

“Early prognosis indicates a fracture of the distal tibia and fibula to the lower right leg,” confirms Dr Bodhania.

It was in the 55th minute when Molangoane went for a challenge, only to be caught by Makhehleni Makhaula’s boot. ‘Tight’ had to be stretchered off the pitch and, accordingly, had to be rushed to hospital.

Meanwhile, Man of the Match Siphelele Ntshangase got a knock to his ankle. The midfielder also had to be stretchered off the field, while goalkeeper Virgil Vries finished the match with a strapping to his knee after a slip when he pulled one of the saves during the match.

The Medical Department will assess the players and duly release a medical report.
