“It was an amazing experience,” Kaizer Chiefs’ youth development player, Tristan Moses, looks back on being present at the launch of the new Nike Mercurial Superfly and Vapor 360 boots in London last week.

The talented defender was chosen as South Africa’s face. He was in the company of many famous soccer players, including Neymar, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Emre Can. Brazil’s former super star Ronaldo was also at the launch.

Nike is currently celebrating the 20th anniversary of their most iconic boot. Kaizer Chiefs’ technical partner virtually took over London with the three-day event to celebrate this occasion, which included the presentation of lifestyle clothing and other football fashion.

“It was not purely a soccer event,” Moses comments, “it was a mixture of football and street culture.”

The young defender plays for Chiefs’ reserve side in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC), having this season started in seven matches, netting two goals.

Moses wears the Mercurial Superfly 360 boot. He got to talk a bit with a few of the other Nike players, including Alex Iwobi, Jordan Henderson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

“The trip exposed me to a lot of new people,” he says still being excited, “I learnt about football on and off the pitch.”

The new Mercurial Vapor boot was handed over to Itumeleng Khune by Olympic gold medallist Caster Semenya at the Chiefs Village on Wednesday afternoon. The boot has a bright orange colour.

The goalkeeper will use the new boot on Saturday night for the league game against Golden Arrows at FNB Stadium.

”It’s a beauty,” Khune raves, “I can’t wait to wear the Nike Mercurial Vapor 360 for the first time in an official match.”

The new Nike Mercurial Superfly and Vapor boots will be on sale in the shops from 1 March 2018.
