Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns have both netted a goal in the first half.

Sundowns’ opening goal came against the run of play in the 26th minute. A shot from Khama Billiat was deflected via Lorenzo Gordinho past goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.

By then, Bernard Parker had already gotten two good opportunities to score, but he couldn’t find the back of the net.

But ‘Die Hond’ did finish beautifully in the 34th minute, squeezing the ball in the short corner from inside the box after a well-weighted cross from the right by Edmore Chirambadare.

Amakhosi were the better team in the first 45 minutes, trying to dominate the African champions.

There is a magnificent atmosphere at the FNB Stadium with about 50 000 spectators in attendance, with the majority being Chiefs supporters.
