Kaizer Chiefs won a legal battle against Ria Stars who were ordered to pay the outstanding transfer fee of R380 000 for the services of Tony Illodigwe plus legal costs.

Chiefs took Stars to court last year following the failure by the Limpopo side to settle the balance from the sale of Illodigwe. Stars stated that Chiefs had sold them a “dud” and alleged that the player was on drugs.

Stars stated that they could not use the player as such but this was after Stars had given Chiefs two cheques, which bounced.

Team manager Bobby Motaung said on Friday that the matter was now with the lawyers. “I am not sure if Stars are going to appeal the matter but at the moment our lawyers will try to retrieve all monies owed to us,” he said.
