Stadium Management SA (SMSA) announced a new annual pre-season fixture on the domestic football calendar, which will see South Africa’s top teams Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns go head-to-head for bragging rights for the Shell Helix Ultra Cup.
The event rights holders are SMSA while the fixture itself will be sponsored by Shell Downstream SA and forms part of a three-year agreement between the two parties.
Kaizer Chiefs was represented by Football Manager Bobby Motaung, Marketing Director Jessica Motaung and players Siphiwe Tshabalala, Bernard Parker and Ramahlwe Mphahlele at the launch.
The first fixture will see Kaizer Chiefs take on Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 21 July 2018 at 15:00.
The three-year agreement will have the possibility for extension by the title sponsor, while broadcast rights have been picked up by the SABC and associate sponsorships signed with Vodacom View+. In addition, the Gauteng Provincial Government will assist with logistical arrangements as the host province.
Tickets are available at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers from R70 upwards. Parking tickets are available from R20.
