Kaizer Chiefs’ medical team revealed the good news. “Erick is back in full training,” confirms team physiotherapist Dave Milner. “He has fully recovered from a groin injury.” Erick ‘Tower’ Mathoho missed the past three matches due to the injury incurred during training a fortnight ago.

‘Tower’, as Mathoho is affectionately known, was looking comfortable during Thursday’s training session.

George ‘Mido’ Maluleka, meanwhile, has shrugged off a thigh injury. “George is fine and training with the team,” says Milner.

A few days before the midfielder sustained the injury he was handed the Man of the Match award after an excellent performance against Free State Stars, only to miss the following fixture against AmaZulu FC. “It was a minor problem,” adds Milner, “but we thought it would be wise to take precaution to avoid worsening the injury.”

Joseph ‘Tight’ Molangoane was seen in high spirit, while walking around the Kaizer Chiefs Village, albeit still on crutches. “Tight is getting stronger and stronger by the day,” remarks Milner. “He works out in the gym and is steadily going through the recovery journey.”

Kaizer Chiefs will in their next match visit Highlands Park on Tuesday, 2 October. The encounter is scheduled to take place at Tembisa’s Makhulong Stadium. Kick-off is at 19:30.

Tickets are sold at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide at a cost of R40.
