Kaizer Chiefs arrived to overcast but typical warm Venda weather conditions in Thohoyandou. “I know it can be hot here,” remarked coach Ernst Middendorp on Friday afternoon, “we will adjust as the game draws closer.”

Amakhosi are in Thohoyandou to face Black Leopards in an Absa Premiership fixture on Saturday afternoon. Warm weather conditions have often proved to be a poser for visiting teams.

“We are ready and I am satisfied that we have done all the necessary preparations,” said Middendorp. “There will be changes in the player department, but that won’t affect the structure and the approach to the game.”

The match promises to be a fascinating one in an already sold-out Thohoyandou Stadium.

“I expect every player to play with the best intentions,” continued the Chiefs coach. “For us, it’s not about who plays on the day, it’s about how we play according to our plan.”

Yet another youngster, this time Given Thibedi, was included in the squad travelling to Thohoyandou.

“It’s good to see these youngsters coming through,” remarked Middendorp. “Given will start on the bench and will come on when necessary.”

Chiefs occupy seventh position on the league table.

“We are aware of the log situation,” commented the coach, before adding, “we prepare to win every match that we play.

“I still have to decide on one or two positions. At the end of the day, however, I am looking for a good overall performance.”

Kick-off is at 15:00.
