“Playing behind locked gates with no supporters won’t be easy because we are accustomed to huge support at home and away,” says coach Giovanni Solinas. ahead of Kaizer Chiefs’ home game against Polokwane City FC on Saturday, 6 October at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The Italian mentor believes his team will need to find energy from within themselves as the ‘12th player’, who always gives the team the motivation and energy to work hard, will not be there for the Absa Premiership clash.

On Polokwane City Solinas says, “They are a very good side with good players. We saw how they beat Bidvest Wits away and they have generally been strong this season. We will work hard to ensure that we bag all three points”.

Both Kaizer Chiefs and Polokwane City drew their midweek games against Highlands Park and SuperSport United.

The coach also spoke about Amakhosi’s 0-0 draw against Highlands Park on Tuesday night. “We created chances and got into goalscoring positions, but we could not convert. We will need to rectify those minor mistakes and ensure we bag maximum points,” he adds.

Kaizer Chiefs are third on the log with 14 points, while Polokwane City occupy position six with 11 points.

“Saturday’s game will be a different ball game altogether because we need to win it, not only for our fans but we need to go into the FIFA International break with a win. This will help boost our confidence, so it is a very important game for us,” concludes Solinas.

Chiefs host Polokwane City in an Absa Premiership match at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday 6 October. Kick-off is at 18:00.

There will be no tickets sold for the match as the encounter will be played behind closed doors owing to sanction imposed by the PSL’s Disciplinary Committee against Amakhosi.

Supporters are encouraged to stay at home and not come anywhere near the stadium precinct.

The match will be shown on SuperSport 4 (Channel 204).
