Kaizer Chiefs signed today the lively winger Dumsani Zuma from Bloemfontein Celtic.

“It’s a great feeling to be at Chiefs and to have trained with the squad for the first time this morning,” says Zuma after having signed a three year deal.

The 22-year-old player can be positioned on the right wing, the left wing or behind the striker. He’s right-footed, but he’s nearly as comfortable with his left.

Zuma was born in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. Other Glamour Boys who come from there are Ryan Moon and the recently signed Philani Zulu.

“My whole family supports Kaizer Chiefs,” Zuma continues, “my parents, my one brother, my grandmother and my aunt.”

The young talent started his career at the age of 11 with the amateur side Grange, Pietermaritzburg, before moving to Hammersdale side Kings United in 2010. He joined Bloemfontein Celtic in 2014, starting last season in 13 league matches, while coming on in another six.

He used to follow Amakhosi from a young age, especially getting attached to the squad with players like David Mathebula, Gert Schalkwyk, Gerard Sibeko and Kaizer Motaung.

“I loved above all Mathebula and Schalkwyk,” Zuma comments, “because they used to create chances to make the team play. That’s what I like to do as well.”

He represented South Africa at the Under-20 and Until-23 level, before recently getting his first Bafana Bafana cap when playing Botswana in the recently held 2018 African Nations Cup (Chan) qualifiers.

“I promise the supporters that I want to help Chiefs win trophies this coming season,” Zuma concludes.
