On this day, 7 January 1970, a dream was born. A dream carried by Dr Kaizer Motaung, who was 25-years-old at the time, supported by group of guys who were part of the Kaizer XI, a team formed in 1969. Motaung returned from the United States, where he was playing football, determined to create a professional football institution that would give talented players a platform to shine. Against the challenges of the times, with the support of families, communities, and fans, Kaizer Chiefs was founded. Today, 56 years later, that dream stands tall as one of the greatest football Clubs on the African continent.

From humble beginnings to becoming a powerhouse of South African football, Kaizer Chiefs has been a story of resilience, unity, and triumph. The journey has been a roller coaster, filled with unforgettable victories, legendary players, and a fan base that grew into a movement we call the Amakhosi faithful.

The year 2025 was a shining chapter, with the Club lifting the Nedbank Cup and the DDC trophy, proving once again that the gold and black spirit is unstoppable. These achievements are a testament to the hard work, focus, and dedication of the players, coaches, and staff, and to the unwavering support of millions of fans across the country and the world.

As we step into 2026, we honour the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the future. To the legends who built the foundation, the current warriors who carry the badge with pride, the staff and partners who keep the institution strong, and above all, the fans who are the heartbeat of Kaizer Chiefs, thank you for shaping this incredible legacy.

As we kick off the year 2026, here’s to more victories, more memories, and more history in the making.

Happy Birthday Kaizer Chiefs! Long live Amakhosi!
