Kaizer Chiefs defeated high-flying Cape Town outfit Santos 1-0 to retain their unbeaten PSL record. The win at a the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenberg sees Chiefs move to second spot on the log, one point behind Supersport United, but with several game sin hand.

Although only one goal was scored, it was an exciting game with plenty of creative football played in midfield.

The only game of the game came in the 20th minute courtesy of Stanton Fredericks who was on hand to knock in the winner after good work by Jabu Pule.

There were plenty of chances for both sides with Santos almost opening the scoring early on, only to see Rowen Fernandez save bravely in front of an advancing Thokozane Xaba.

For Chiefs former Pirates player Phumlani Mkhize was outstanding, as was the livewire Jabu Pule.

Mkhize had the best opportunities in front of goal but was twice thwarted by Bafana Bafana shot-stopper Andre Arendse.

Indeed if it were not for the unflappable Arendse Santos may well have conceded more than just the one goal. The tall custodian was called into action again as the match drew to a close saving a good shot from substitute Nhlanhla Mathebula, who had come on as a replacement for goal scorer Fredericks.
