Record holder with 13 trophies to their name in the Telkom Knockout Cup competition, Kaizer Chiefs were draw away against Cape Town City in the Last 16 of this year’s competition.

“We have started well this season,” responded Daniel Akpeyi following the draw. “We are still working on sharpening some elements of our game. It is still early in the season, but we are happy with the progress thus far and ready for any opponent.”

The draw took place on Wednesday afternoon during a live broadcast at SuperSport Studios in Randburg.

The draw format pitted teams that finished top 8 in the league last season against the bottom team.

“This is another opportunity for us to win a trophy,” the Nigerian shot stopper added, “we are looking forward to our travel to Cape Town and do the rest of the talk on the field of play.”

The PSL Competitions Committee will announce the match logistics in due course. The Last 16 round is scheduled to take place on the weekend of 18-20 October, with the final scheduled for14 December.
