Kaizer Chiefs Reserves survived a first minute scare by overcoming Cape Town City Reserves in the Multichoice Diski Challenge. City Reserves started like a house on fire opening the scoreboard with a 1st minute lob from Keagan Matheyse beating goalie Bontle Molefe.

Chiefs Reserves hopes to secure a Top8 spot were given a boost in the 44th minute when Nkosingiphile Ngcobo sliced through City’s defence before hitting a beautiful grass cutter. The score was 1-1 at half time.

Coach Arthur Zwane gave his charges a tongue lashing at half time and that seemed to be what the doctor ordered with 50 minutes on the clock, Sihle Mbele beat Lutho Mkaba in the near post to make it 2-1 to Amakhosi Reserves.

In the second half coach Zwane made changes when Mthokozisi Balakazi made way for Tshepo Myeni (57’), Sibusiso Milazi replaced by Samkelo Zwane (65’), and at the death Tshepo Mohlala came on for Keletso Sifama (90’).

The final score was 2-1 to the young Amakhosi.
