Kaizer Chiefs’ Under-13s, Under-15s, Under-17s and Under-19s will once again be in action during another round of the Gauteng Development League on Saturday, 2 June. All the games will be against their rivals at SuperSport United and will be played at the Sacred Heart College in Observatory, Johannesburg.

The matches of the U-13s and U-17s will kick-off at 09:00, while the U-15s will start at 10:30 and the U-19s at around 11:15.

Amakhosi’s youth side were last week in action against Wits FC. The U-15s and the U-19s both won 3-1, the U-13s booked a 5-2 victory, while the U-17s lost 3-2.

Chiefs’ U-19s have performed best, only losing one of their seven matches played so far. The only defeat came against Bidvest Wits, not to be confused with the amateur side Wits FC.

“It’s a great tournament to participate in,” says Ace Khuse, who is in charge of the Under-15s. “It’s for the first time that we have Under-13s and Under-15s, which will help the upper youth sides in the future, as we now have adequate time to develop the players from a young age. This also means that we have more time to get the youngsters ready for the first team, which bodes well for the future.”

SuperSport United already have U-13s and U-15s sides for a few years. “It all depends on how you play and how hungry you are as a team,” remarks Khuse about Saturday’s games, “We want to make our mark.”
