Kaizer Chiefs’ Under-13s, Under-15s, Under-17s and Under-19s faced Mamelodi Sundowns in Gauteng Development League fixtures on Saturday, 1 September. Three sides won their games against the Brazilians.

All the matches took place at the Sacred Heart College in Observatory, Johannesburg.

The Under-19s beat Sundowns 3-1 with Yaseen Bunting, Mthothozisi Balakasi and Goodman Tshabalala scoring the goals. It was a convincing display of the young Glamour Boys, who were already 2-0 up at the break.

The Under-17s won 2-1. The Brazilians scored an own goal before the 14-year-old forward Claudio Francisco added the second. It was 2-0 at half-time. Another 14-year-old, Aiden McCarthy superbly marshalled his defence.

The Under-15s also went past Sundowns. The sole goal was scored by Liam McVicar in the second half.

Only the Under-13s were edged by Sundowns. The scoreline was 3-1 with Bafana Zitha netting for Amakhosi. The half-time score was 1-1.

All four Chiefs’ youth teams still have two games to play in the Gauteng Development League this year.
