The Kaizer Chiefs development teams did the Club proud this past weekend to maintain the bright outlook for future homegrown success.

On Sunday, the Reserve team defeated SuperSport United 4-3 in a DStv Diski Challenge humdinger at Dobsonville stadium in Dube.

A courageous fightback via a penalty from Donay Jansen and an equaliser by Omega Mdaka wiped out Matsatsantsa’s early two-goal lead before halftime. The young Amakhosi demonstrated indefatigable resilience again in the second half after falling 3-2 behind to level through Thulani Mabaso, before Jansen bagged the winner with his second of the match. The result moves Amakhosi up to fourth in the table.

They face Stellenbosch FC in their next fixture on Saturday, 30 September, at FNB Stadium, kicking off at 10:00.

Meanwhile, the Club’s youth teams enjoyed generally better fortunes than their senior counterparts against Mamelodi Sundowns in Round 30 of the SAFA Gauteng Development League (GDL) at the Kaizer Chiefs Village on Saturday.

The Under 13s opened the day with a 2-1 win to keep their unbeaten run since the start of the season going and maintaining top spot in their league.

The Under 15s followed it up with a victory by the same scoreline, 2-1, to keep ahead of the pack in their division.

Unfortunately, the Under 17s were unable to make it three in a row, narrowly going down by 3-2.

The Under 19s restored Amakhosi dominance against the Brazilians in the day’s closing fixture, winning comfortably by 3-1.

Next weekend, on Saturday 30 September, Amakhosi play host to Joburg City in Round 31 of the GDL, where the Under 13s will kick off at the Village at 9:00, followed by the under 15s at 10:30, the Under 17s at midday, and the under 19s at 14:00.
