A trio of Kaizer Chiefs players were involved in international friendly action with their various national teams. Reeve Frosler, Khama Billiat and Anthony Akumu got to represent South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya, respectively.

Frosler who did not feature in South Africa’s 1-1 friendly draw with Namibia last Thursday, started on Sunday as Bafana Bafana took on Zambia in another exhibition game at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg. He earned his second cap for his country during the 2-1 loss. It was Frosler’s first appearance for South Africa in over two years. Chiefs other player on international duty with South Africa Lebogang Manyama did not feature in either of the games through injury concerns. While Sifiso Hlanti who has been training with Chiefs featured alongside Frosler in the loss to Zambia.

Khama Billiat was handed his 44th cap for the Zimbabwean national team as they began life under Croatian coach Zdravko Logarušić. Their friendly game ended in a 0-0 draw away against Malawi in Blantyre. This was a good test ahead of a crucial game against current African Champions Algeria on the road first and then at home next month on the 9th and 17th November.  Algeria are currently on top of Group H of the 2022 CAF Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers and Zimbabwe are in second place.

The third Chiefs player to feature in the past international break was Anthony Akumu Agay. He turned out for Kenya in their 2-1 home win in Nairobi against Zambia on Friday. Akumu started and played the full 90 minutes in a game which saw Kenya race into a 2-0 lead. With Tandi Mwape scoring an own goal in the 21st minute, before Cliff Nyakeya scored a second in the 36th minute. Zambia scored a late consolation in the 81st minute through Emmanuel Chabula but Kenya held on for the win.

South Africa and Kenya like Zimbabwe will be in action next month when they will be featuring in qualifying for the 2022 CAF Africa cup of nations, Bafana Bafana will face the Central African Island Nation of Sao Tome E Principe home and away on 9 and 17 November in Group C.

During the international break, Chiefs assistant coach Arthur Zwane, Goalkeeper Coach Lee Baxter and Video Analyst Mark Davy were on duty as part of the technical team of Bafana Bafana Coach Molefi Ntseki, as they took on Namibia and Zambia.
