Today Kaizer Chiefs, the football fraternity, South Africa and the rest of the world celebrate the illustrious and inspirational life of one of Africa’s greatest sons who is Kaizer Motaung as he turns 77 years old.

Born in Orlando East, Soweto to parents Ceyland and Mapontso Motaung in 1944, Chairman Kaizer Motaung has shown that your beginning does not determine your future as he went on to shine on the world stage as a footballer and Club owner.

Playing football on the streets of Soweto with no shoes at times, ‘Chincha Guluva’ went on to play and represent his family and South Africa on some of the greatest world stages as he showcased his God-given talent as a footballer.

The Chairman has dedicated more than 60 years of his life to football and has not slowed down since he started playing professional football at the age of 16 and then moving to America at the age of 23 where he made his mark until 1975.

He has played against and alongside some of the greats in the world, including Pele of Brazil and one of the greatest footballers South Africa has ever seen, Patrick ‘Ace’ Ntsoelengoe.

Forming Kaizer Chiefs has proved to be one of the best decisions he made after turning down a one-million-dollar contract in America. The brand he formed in 1970 has grown beyond his imagination and is among the top Clubs in Africa.

The dream and vision have been realised and he continues to live his dream as the captain of the Kaizer Chiefs ship.

We say thank you Chincha Guluva, Bra K, Boy-Boy, Chairman, Ntate Motaung for the legacy, your generosity and outstanding leadership.

We wish you good health and many more years!

Happy 77th birthday namane e tshehlana, Motaung wa ha Hlalele!
