The Kaizer Chiefs youth sides competing in the Gauteng Development League continued their unbeaten runs in the competition, all while the coaches have experimented with different combinations.

“In the last two matches, we used younger boys in each team. We had about four or five 10-year olds playing in the U-13 team and then completing the game with 11-and 12-year old. We needed to play the younger boys to see how far along they are in their development,” commented Head of Development Sundra Govinder.

The youth sides in their two most recent matches took on Wits Juniors at Marks Park on Saturday, 11 May and last weekend hosted Elspark at the Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena.

The impressive Chiefs U-13 side kept up their 100%-win record in the league as they dispatched Wits Juniors 3-0 and then put five past Elspark in a 5-0 drubbing this past weekend.

Keeping pace with log leaders, the Chiefs U-15 side played to a goalless draw against Wits Juniors but bounced back to beat Elspark 3-0.

Still undefeated in their stream is the Chiefs U-17 side which drew 2-2 against Wits Juniors before handing Elspark six of the best in a 6-0 thumping.

The Chiefs U-19 side won 6-0 against Wits Juniors before massacring Elspark 10-2 to move to the top of the log.

“All our teams have an identity; they play the same quality football. They already know the importance of playing for the brand,” concluded Govinder.

The youth sides will look to continue their collective strong form when they take on Kathorus Hyper at Huntersfield Stadium in Katlehong on Saturday, 25 May.
