“The captain has a fracture to a bone in his face,” confirms Kaizer Chiefs physiotherapist David Milner about the injury Itumeleng Khune sustained towards the end of Sunday’s game against Chippa United. “He will see a specialist as soon as possible and we will update thereafter.”
Chippa’s Kurt Lentjies collided with the Amakhosi captain, who had to be rushed to a hospital in Port Elizabeth, where a scan was taken to determine the extent of the goalkeeper’s injury. He was discharged from the hospital later on Sunday evening.
Khune was due to join the Bafana Bafana squad to prepare for the upcoming Russia 2018 qualifiers against Senegal.
