Leopards game is key – Solinas

“We have to switch from a cup knockout mentality to the premiership marathon,” says Giovanni Solinas, while looking to tonight’s game against Black Leopards at FNB Stadium.

This Absa Premiership clash will kick off at 19:30.

“Remember, we played on Sunday,” comments Solinas. “It meant that we basically had to combine the review and the practice session to prepare for the Leopards encounter in the pre-match session. I am happy, however, with what I’ve seen from my players. They show lots of energy and the intention to win tonight.”

“We just have to deal with the absence of Siyabonga Ngezana, who is out due to suspension,” adds Solinas, before continuing, “I am glad that we have found lots of positives from the review of the Telkom Knockout quarterfinal against SuperSport United, even more so because we implemented a lot of what we prepared for that game.”

There’s already an air of anticipation for the upcoming Telkom Knockout semi-final against Orlando Pirates, but there are still a few crucial league games to play for, of which tonight’s clash against Black Leopards is the first.

“We want the players to focus on every match, be it a premiership or cup match,” Solinas points out. “The Absa Premiership is very important because of our league aspirations.”

“We played Leopards not long ago when they took us to penalties in Telkom Knockout encounter,” remarks Solinas about Wednesday evening’s fixture.

“This is a massive game. It’s key. I watched them when they played Free State Stars. They used the same line-up as against us. Of course, they might approach us differently. That’s ok, as we have prepared for any way they might come at us.”

It’s all systems go for what should be a pleasing sight for the supporters tonight.

Tickets are sold at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets for R40. Parking in designated areas is free.
