Coach Middendorp vows that his side is not falling for the David vs Goliath talk about their Nedbank Cup Last 32 match against GladAfrica Championship side, Royal Eagles.

“I don’t like talking much about the opponent,” says Middendorp. “For example, most are looking at Eagles as a first division side, but you have to realise they have players with PSL level experience. I also watched them the other day when they played Ajax CT - they nearly won the match. So, we are not under any illusion thinking that we are playing a lower division side.”

Chiefs tackle Eagles at FNB Stadium at 18:00.

“I am happy to see our camp vibrant and ready for the match,” adds Middendorp. “We have players like Khama Billiat and Akumu Agay available for selection. I think the element of other players having a chance to play has added some spice in the team. It’s good.”

Middendorp confirmed Kgotso Moleko is not available by saying, “we thought Kgotso had some stiff muscles. We looked at the situation, and said, look we have some options in that role, and decided to give him a chance to recover.”

Chiefs could not complete their pre-match session due lightning and thunderstorms in and around Johannesburg. “It’s ok,” he concluded. “The lightning was too close, and we had to stop training. However, this will not impact our plans for the match.”

Tickets for the match are sold through Ticketpro online, Edgars, Jet, Spar supermarkets and Sasol garages at R40 per ticket.
