Kaizer Chiefs take on Golden Arrows in an Absa Premiership clash at FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening. Amakhosi will be searching for a third successive league win and defender Mulomowandau Mathoho is relishing the opportunity to get back out onto the field and take on the team from KwaZulu-Natal.

An eager Mathoho explains: “We are going to have to battle it out to get our third win in a row on Tuesday. We know Arrows and we know that they have quality players in their team -we know it won’t be easy, but we will be ready for them.”

Mathoho knows that Arrows will be dangerous opponents on Tuesday evening and is looking to avoid a slip up against them as he goes onto add, “Arrows posses a lot of speed in their team they have players who are quick, I know we will be up-to the challenge to handle their threats.”

The Amakhosi defender has also been pleased by the fact that Chiefs have not conceded any goals in their last two league games. “In our last two matches we managed to keep clean-sheets which is good for our team. Not conceding increases our chances of winning games. As a defender you don’t want to concede goals and we will fight again to ensure we don’t let in any goals.”

Mathoho who has started all seven of Chiefs league games this season and has played the full ninety minutes in six of these games is looking to keep up his contributions to the team’s success which has also seen him contribute with two goals.

“So far so good. I always want to put in more to the team’s success. Every game I look to improve and as a player you want to get better game by game, always looking to improve on your last performance. While I am happy, I do believe I can give more and will endeavour to do so,” he says as he reflects on what he has brought to the team.

The Arrows encounter will be Chiefs’ third league game in the space of a week and to Mathoho it does not make a difference that Amakhosi have had a busy schedule of late: “I think it is all mental. If you tell yourself we have three games in quick succession and dwell on the schedule it will damage you, but personally I don’t look at the schedule I am ready to play whenever needed and always eager to get out on the field.”

With Chiefs not in league action after the Arrows game until the 27th October when they will face Mamelodi Sundowns away from home with an international break and then Telkom Knockout duties looming, Mathoho would like nothing more than for Chiefs to sign off ahead of this period with another victory.

“We have no Absa Premiership game for almost three weeks. It will be good for the team to pick up three points against Arrows. Its nice to close with a win. Its going to give us confidence for when we come back to league action at the end of October.”

Chiefs will host Arrows in what will be their fifth home league game of the season having defeated Baroka in their last encounter. Amakhosi will be looking to win their second successive home league game at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday. Kick-off for the game is at 19h30. Ticket can be purchased from Computicket, Shoprite and Checkers at R40 per ticket.
