“I never won anything before,” says Bongani Mthethwa, who won the jersey competition that was run on Kaizer Chiefs’ website. “This is great. I entered the competition immediately after I read about it about.”

Mthethwa is a fervent Amakhosi supporter, living in Sonland Park in the Vaal. “I got a call last week, but I missed it,” he reflects. “However, I could see that it came from Kaizer Chiefs.

“I wondered, ‘What did I do?’ I couldn’t believe it when I called back and was told that I won the jersey.”

Mthethwa came to the Chiefs Village to pick-up his prize. “It fits perfectly,” he reacts after putting the jersey on.

“I have been a Chiefs supporter from a young age,” he says, “my first hero was Lucas Radebe. However, I also liked Marks Maponyane. Nowadays, I follow closely Lorenzo Gordinho, Gustavo Páez and, of course, Itumeleng Khune.”

Mthethwa plans to come to the Soweto Derby. “I will proudly wear my new jersey,” he says with a big smile on his face.
