We have to knuckle down - Hunt

“We created some good opportunities which we should have buried,” reflected Gavin Hunt on his team’s performance against Mamelodi Sundowns. “Their goalkeeper made some good saves. In some instances, we lacked the final ball and took wrong options.”

Hunt was reacting to the Saturday’s 0-3 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.

“We committed crucial mistakes against a quality side,” admits Hunt. “They were a stronger opposition.”

Hunt threw in a couple of youngsters including Lebohang Lesako and Keletso Sifama, who came on as substitutes.

“The youngsters gave us something,” adds Hunt, “obviously with more game intelligence we will improve. It is not the results we were looking for but now we have to focus on the next opposition.”

Amakhosi will not have much time to rest and have to regroup as they prepare to meet Chippa United on Tuesday.

“I watched Chippa in their match on Saturday night,” says Hunt. “Chippa is totally a different side compared to Sundowns. They will be a different challenge. To me there is no first game. I read a lot from any game. We have lots of work to do going forward. But don’t forget we played against the best team in the league in Sundowns.”

Amakhosi will travel to Port Elizabeth to face Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday night. Kick-off is scheduled at 19:30.
