“We are continuing in the early stages of the season to form a sustained approach for the season,” said Ernst Middendorp from the sidelines of the pre-match session on Friday afternoon. “We used the last two weeks of the FIFA international break to work on identifying some of the tactical elements that you can’t easily practice between back to back games.”

Kaizer Chiefs host Polokwane City in a much-anticipated Absa Premiership match at FNB Stadium this evening.

“City have a useful team,” added Middendorp. “From the team that we played against last season; I see two changes in their line-up. They also have a new coach and Jabulani Maluleka remains their influential player operating from the midfield.”

The Absa Premiership Coach of the month of August reports an almost clean bill of health.

“We are still without Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo,” Middendorp said in conclusion. “The confidence is sky high in the camp. We are looking forward to a good game. We have done our homework and ready for the match.”

Camp news included Lebogang Manyama’ Birthday. The on-form midfielder turned 29 on Friday. More good news is the three-year extension of contracts of midfielder Dumsani Zuma and defender Mulomowandau Mathoho.

Kick-off is at 18:00 and tickets are still available from Computicket, Shoprite and Checkers stores.
