Midfield star, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is keen for Amakhosi to end the season with a flourish as they practice ahead of their penultimate Betway Premiership fixture of 2025/26 against AmaZulu at Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban on Saturday.

Chiefs passed the 50-point mark last Sunday when two very late goals earned them a 2-0 win over Sekhukhune United, a game in which ‘Mshini’ impressed from first whistle to last.

Speaking exclusively to www.kaizerchiefs.com, the talented 25-year old says, “It wasn’t an easy game. It was tough but we worked really hard to get the victory.”

On a personal note, he adds, “I feel like I had a decent game and it was good to complete 90 minutes for the first time in a while, but there are aspects I want to improve on. Overall, I was quite happy and we take it and move forward.”

The Glamour Boys are now assured of third place in the league standings yet there are no hints of complacency within the Gold & Blac camp.

“We are doing our usual build-up, preparing our game-plan with the coaches. We will have to work hard because it will not be an easy game,” Ngcobo assures, “We know how dangerous AmaZulu can be with Coach Arthur (Zwane) so we are expecting a tough match and we are ready to fight for the win.”

Regardless of the outcomes of the last two games, Chiefs will be competing in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2026/27, and ‘Mshini’ is looking forward to the challenge.

“It’s a great feeling to know that we are going to play in CAF competition again next season. It is something we wanted to achieve as a team and we are happy to have done it with two games to spare. I am excited for it. It will be difficult but we will benefit from the experience,” he says.

Whilst rightly proud of the accomplishment of finishing third and qualifying for continental competition, Ngcobo considers it a step on the pathway towards the level at which the Club ought to be competing, noting, “I consider this to be a good season, not great because at Kaizer Chiefs the expectations are higher, but after the last few years I think we turned a corner and are heading in the right direction. We will take what we have learned and try to improve for next season.”

The match kicks off at 15:00.
