Kaizer Chiefs Ladies booked their place in the 2026 Gauteng leg of the Engen Knockout Challenge, set to take place in July, after an impressive showing in the qualifying tournament held at Marks Park on Monday.
The Glamour Girls produced a dominant display throughout the day, winning all three of their matches and confirming their status as one of the standout teams in the competition.
Chiefs opened their campaign with a commanding 9-0 victory over Edenvale FC. The team controlled proceedings from start to finish, displaying attacking flair and clinical finishing to secure a convincing opening result.
The momentum continued in their second fixture against Joburg United. Once again, the Amakhosi Ladies proved too strong for their opponents, recording another emphatic 9-0 victory to move within touching distance of qualification.
Their final group match saw them face Diepkloof Ladies. Although the encounter was expected to provide a sterner test, Chiefs once again rose to the occasion, racing into a 3-0 halftime lead after another dominant first-half performance and maintaining their intensity after the break to complete a perfect day of football with a 4-0 victory.
The qualification marked another significant milestone for the team, which continues to show progress in its inaugural competitive season. Assistant Coach, Cameron Cox praised the players for their commitment throughout the tournament.
"The results are pleasing, but what stands out for us is the commitment the players displayed throughout the day,” Cox said.
“Qualifying for the Gauteng finals was our objective, and the team approached every match with the seriousness and intensity expected at Kaizer Chiefs. We wanted to impose ourselves, play on the front foot and maintain our standards regardless of the opposition. I believe the players did exactly that,” he added.
The qualification continues an encouraging period for Chiefs Ladies, who have now secured successive victories across all competitions while maintaining a very healthy scoring record. Having navigated the qualifiers, they will head into the Gauteng finals brim-full of confidence.
