Chiefs field strong team for Shell Cup

Supporters can look forward to an exciting match this afternoon as Kaizer Chiefs face Mamelodi Sundowns in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup at FNB Stadium. This is the second installment of the annual friendly match between the two rivals taking place over the FIFA International weekend.

With four players out on national duty for their respective countries, coach Ernst Middendorp has only made three changes to the team that started Chiefs’ last match against Golden Arrows in the Absa Premiership on 1 October.

There are a number of new faces on the bench with some players invited from the Chiefs Reserve team to join this weekend’s camp as the team will be playing two matches in two days.

Amakhosi supporters will also be pleased to see Ramahlwe Mphalele and Kgotso Moleko on the bench after recovering from their injuries.

On the field of play, Daniel Akpeyi retains his position in the goalkeeping department. His defence is made up of Yagan Sasman, Njabulo Blom, Daniel Cardoso and Philani Zulu.

Captain Willard Katsande will be joined by Kearyn Baccus, Lebogang Manyama, Dumsani Zuma and Khama Billiat in midfield. Leonardo Castro will lead the attack.
