Kaizer Chiefs have 90 minutes to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Zambian side Red Arrows when the two teams meet in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round in Durban this evening.

A great deal is riding on this encounter, as the winner will advance to the group stage of this season’s competition. Chiefs will be buoyed by the recovery of Brandon Petersen and Lebohang Maboe, whose presence adds depth and options for coach Fernando Da Cruz on the bench. However, Amakhosi will be without Renaldo Leaner, who sustained an injury during yesterday’s preparations for this crucial fixture.

Coach Da Cruz has made five changes to the lineup that started the first leg in Ndola. Bruce Bvuma replaces Leaner in goal, Thulani Mabaso comes in for Thabiso Monyane, Pule Mmodi takes the place of Paseka Mako, Faiz Abrahams is preferred to Mfundo Vilakazi, and Wandile Duba starts ahead of Luke Baartman.

Chiefs will once again line up in a 4‑3‑3 formation.

Bvuma will guard the posts.

The back four sees Bradley Cross on the left of defence, Thabo Moloisane and Inacio Miguel forming the central pairing, and Reeve Frosler at right back.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa anchors the midfield, supported by Mabaso and Mduduzi Shabalala in more advanced roles.

In attack, Mmodi will operate on the left flank, with Abrahams on the right, and Duba leading the attack.

With a place in the group stage at stake, Amakhosi will be determined to rise to the occasion in front of their home supporters and overturn the narrow deficit from the first leg.

The referee is Petrus Amutenya, assisted by Alex Lumponjani and Hangula Angula. The fourth official is Mweshitsama Naftal. They are from Namibia.

Miguel wears the armband.

The match starts at 18:00 at Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban. The game will be live on SABC 3 and SuperSport Channel 208 on DStv as well as various SABC radio stations. The Club will provide live commentary on X (formerly known as Twitter).
